Puzzle #1: This tomb consists of one big mirror puzzle. There are 4 mirrors in the corners of the room that can be shined on the sticks that connect the platforms. Then you can climb the sticks and get to the next mirror. The goal is to reach the 4th mirror in the top left corner and shine it on the middle stick so you can reach the tomb stele.
The whole point of Tomb Raider is that Lara Croft was to pillage tombs. As the rebooted series has progressed, there have been more tombs added to the main story, but the optional tombs are where the real challenge is. Our guide will take you through where to find the challenge tombs in Shadow of the Tomb Raider and how to solve the puzzles found within.
There are additionally nine challenge tombs for keen explorers to complete, featuring some of the more devious puzzles in Lara's latest adventure, so for more tips on playing the game itself, as well as how skill points work to unlock the skills earned by completing challenge tombs, head to our Shadow of the Tomb Raider guide.
Head around the wall to your right from the Plane Wreckage base camp and climb up for the first optional tomb. You'll need to do some light platforming, wall climbing, and tree swinging in order to access the main part of the tomb. There is a statue blocking your path at one point, so jump to the counterweight to raise it up and climb the wall to the side. The theme of counterweights will be important for the main puzzle just ahead.
This is very nearby the Jungle Ruins camp, so look for the yellow markings to find the entrance. There will be some platforming involved, mostly climbing and rappelling to swing across. Eventually you'll encounter a large crane, which is the main puzzle of this tomb.
The closest base camp is Kuwaq Yaku Ruins, with the cave entrance that contains the yellow skulls located nearby. Don't worry about the Rope Ascender message as this is just to destroy a barricade with some ore and has no real importance to the tomb itself. After climbing the subsequent sections, you'll be attacked by animals. Once they're killed and presumably skinned, you can then tether rope arrows between the wooden beams to bring you to the challenge room.
From the market place camp in The Hidden City, head north west until you see a cave with feathered decorations. Crawl through there to find the waterfall; the cave under the water is where the challenge tomb is located. Dive in, having a nice swim and a climb until you come to a lever. Pull it to activate some spinning spikes that need to be dodged. Stick to the left for the third trap. There will be a locked gate, that upon pulling the big lever on the right will open the door to the puzzle.
Make sure you have plenty of resources to make fire arrows for this challenge tomb, as you'll need plenty of them to complete it. There are resources within, but not many, and there are enemies within too.
This is the challenge you need to complete in order to finish the Explore the local Mysteries quest, so head to the Shadow of the Tomb Raider side quest and challenges guide for more on it. It can be found in the watery area just off the path east of the Ruined Tower base camp. Dive in and swim to the tomb entrance with the yellow skulls.
With that, the final challenge tomb from the main game is complete. More will be added to the game as DLC as the months go by, but if you're stuck for something to do, head to our Shadow of the Tomb Raider side quest and challenges guide for tips on how to solve the other optional activities in Lara's new adventure.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is launching with support for G-SYNC HDR monitors and other HDR displays, enabling a more natural picture with brighter sunlight, darker caves and tombs, and improved fidelity throughout.

watch out for a big cave entrance with yellow skulls near it. When you enter it tells you that you need a Rope Ascender but it s not actually needed for the challenge tomb, just to destroy a wooden barricade that has some ore behind it but nothing important.
But to get some of Shadow of the Tomb Raider's best skills, it's well worth your time to complete these Challenge Tombs as you come across them. Below, we've put the tombs in an optimal path order. We'll go over the locations for all of the tombs, how to complete each of them, and what skill rewards you'll get for completing them.
We've also attached videos for each because sometimes it's just easier to see it than read it. However, keep in mind that every tomb is marked by what looks like yellow paint; follow the markings, and they will lead you to the entrance of each tomb.
There, jump up on a ledge and then another to your left. From there, jump on the counter weight in front of you to move the idol statue out of the tomb's entryway. Go through and activate the basecamp. 2b1af7f3a8
