If there was ever a time for some wonderfully cheesy Hallmark movies, this is it. Crack open a bottle of wine, wrap yourself in your coziest blanket and get ready for these festive emotional rollercoasters. With hundreds of Hallmark Christmas movies to choose from, we rounded up the best of the best to bring you some holiday cheer (or at least bring a smile to your face during your cozy night in). Try one of these Christmas cookie recipes so you can enjoy a warm treat with your movie.
Devoted fans of Hallmark Christmas movies cry tears of joy over this touching story of an ailing boy who desperately needs a heart transplant on Christmas Eve. Teri Polo stars as a mom determined to keep faith even as a snowstorm threatens to keep help at bay. Christmas traditions and neighbors coming together help the family find light at a desperate time. These are the best Christmas movies of all time, ranked.
Alexa and Carlos PenaVega (married in real life!) star as dance partner sweethearts in the first Hallmark Christmas movie to cast people of color in the leading roles. In Enchanted Christmas, Alexa plays an interior designer who returns to Utah to help remodel a rundown hotel just in time for Christmas. Her ex-boyfriend (played by Carlos) is on hand to rekindle their old romance as they rehearse for a Christmas Eve dance extravaganza. Fans have fallen in love with the romantic, sweep-you-off-your-feet dancing. We love these gifts inspired by Christmas movies.
This little holiday movie also delivers a message that resonates even more powerfully at this time of year: Instead of averting your eyes from the ragged men and women huddled against the cold around stores and on city streets, why not show a bit of compassion toward these fellow humans?
The film is full of delightful twists. We learn, for instance, that Mr. Stink has a few deep, dark secrets of his own. We're also treated to a wealth of engaging sight gags. You won't soon forget the priceless coffee shop scene, which has Mr. Stink chasing away Chloe's prissy school nemesis by letting out a belch so funky that it absolutely covers the girl in gooey stench. You'll also giggle when Chloe and her sis give him a makeover, complete with lipstick and sparkly eyelashes.

The next morning, Stanley asks X-Ray if he has the object. X-Ray yells at Stanley to leave him alone and pretends he doesn't know what Stanley is talking about. While they are digging, X-Ray waits until the water truck has come to the holes before pretending to find the gold tube. Mr. Pendanski goes to inform the Warden of X-Ray's find. The Warden is a tall woman with red hair and freckles. She wears a cowboy hat and black cowboy boots studded with turquoise stones. She gives X-Ray the day off and orders Mr. Pendanski to fill the canteens for the boys again. When Mr. Pendanski says that he has just filled them the Warden, obviously angered, asks Stanley, calling him Caveman, if he has a full canteen. Since Stanley's canteen is not full the Warden tells Mr. Pendanski to fill them without questioning her authority.
This section shows the ways that groups of people establish and maintain power. X-Ray becomes the group's leader because he has a system of rewards for those who support him. Once Stanley has done X-Ray a favor, X-Ray rewards him by moving him ahead in the water line and coming to his defense when Squid taunts him about receiving a letter from his mother. The Warden also has a system to keep herself in control of the whole group. Like X-Ray's system, she uses punishments and rewards to keep order but unlike X-Ray, she is the officially recognized head of the camp. She increases her power by increasing her vision; like a wich who can see everything through a crystal ball, the Warden's hidden cameras and microphones allow her complete control over the boys. She rewards X- Ray when he claims to have found the gold tube and the other boys, who must continue working without a reward, understand the full effect of being in the Warden's good graces.
Adapted by Walliams himself with Simon Nye of Men Behaving Badly fame and starring Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey, Twenty Twelve), Sheridan Smith (Jonathan Creek), David Walliams (Blandings, Big School, Little Britain) and introducing Nell Tiger Free as Chloe, this charming hour of family television comes to PBS on Sunday, December 22 at 7:00pmCT/8:00pm ET. Hopefully, it is destined to be a holiday classic.

Review by: kymmage (Kym)Dated: 16th of February, 2014 This Review: 10/10Pay to see it again:Attention Span:Believeability:Personal Choice:I sat down and watched this the other day, just as a quiet wind down from a busy day out and about with the kids. My kids weren't all that fussed with watching this, so they mainly just played in the room while I watched it. I think they were just a little too young to appreciate the story, but I think once they are closer to 9 years old they would like it.Aside from the kids, I enjoyed watching this. I am a British comedy geek, and an avid watcher of QI and other thing. This meant that there were actors in here of interest to me. I couldn't quite place a couple of the people, but when I looked them up they have been in lots of things I watch. But Johnny Vegas plays the Dad, and he has been in QI amongst other things. The Prime Minister is played by David Walliams who did Little Britain. So great cast in my opinion. The storyline is cute, and family friendly. A magical homeless man is befriended by a lonely child. Together they see the world for what it really is, and have a great time exposing the silly adults around them. It also gave you pause to think about the homeless and what could be done to help them. The ending was like a little hug. This movie is only an hour or so long, so an easy watch. I'll be watching it again.
Review by: kiwigirl04 (Sharlene)Dated: 28th of January, 2014 This Review: 10/10Pay to see it again:Attention Span:Believeability:Personal Choice:When I saw the title up for reviewing it seemed very interesting, after getting it noticed it was based on a book but as I don't tend to read a lot of books I have never heard of it before until now. The cover is just simple nice yellow background with a guy, young lady and a dog, nice and simple not overwhelming and you kinda get the idea that the movie is about those on the cover which helped me follow the movie, not that it was that hard to follow. The start is very interesting as it starts off as a cartoon kinda drawing of houses etc and fades into the actual movie with real houses. I got the feeling of the movie as Chloe seemed like a sad child but as the movie goes on she was just different, a scream for attention I guess in a way. Her sister little miss perfect seemed to be the favourite daughter of the mother and dad is hiding his own secret. This movie was fun and easy to follow it flowed well, with Chloe and Mr Stink taking command of the set. It was very interesting, best to watch it and not go and do something else like I did, I watched it 3 times and each time I learnt something new about the movie on what I missed last time. There is a secret about Mr Stink but you will have to watch it to find out what. Overall it's a good family movie, and its easy to watch over again. If only people were like this young lady Chloe it would be a nice place now wouldn't it?
The consequences of these law enforcement practices and sentencing policies are painfully evident today in the demographics of our prison population. According to an April 1999 report prepared for the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights by The Sentencing Project, there are now an estimated 400,000 inmates in the U.S. either awaiting trial or serving time for a drug offense, out of a total inmate population of 1.7 million. "The combined impact of increased drug arrests along with harsher sentencing policies has led to a vast expansion of drug offenders in the nation's prisons and jails," the report explains. "As these policies have been implemented, they have increasingly affected African American and Hispanic communities. The African American proportion of drug arrests has risen from 25 percent in 1980 to 37 percent in 1995. Hispanic and African American inmates are more likely than non-Hispanic whites to be incarcerated for a drug offense."
In Indiana, Sgt. David Smith, an African American police officer, was pulled over while driving an unmarked car in the City of Carmel in 1997. Sgt. Smith was in full uniform at the time, but he was not wearing a hat which would have identified him as a police officer. According to a complaint filed with the ACLU, the trooper who stopped Smith appeared to be "shocked and surprised" when Sgt. Smith got out of the car. The trooper explained that he had stopped Smith because he had three antennas on the rear of his car and quickly left the scene. (Source: The Indianapolis Star) 2b1af7f3a8
